Way Maker 2023 Happenings
We hope you had a wonderful holiday season! As we step into a new year, we want to begin by saying thank you. Thank you for pouring into Way Maker and believing in our mission to love and support women through pregnancy, birth, and motherhood.
We are expectant for what God will do through Way Maker in the year ahead, and we remain forever grateful for the impact 2023 had on mothers, babies, families, and our community. God continues to reveal His plan for the Center as we abide in Him and attune our hearts to His heart.
Welcome to Our New Board Members
In 2023, we were blessed to welcome three incredible women to our Board of Directors:
Cathie Schaffer – expertise in early childhood education
Kerri Coley – experience in pediatric office management
Judy Shurling-Smith – legal counsel
We are thrilled to have their wisdom and leadership guiding the Center forward.
Stories of Love & Support
Family 1
A local women’s group connected us with a family living in their car. Both parents were deaf, the mother was nine months pregnant, and they had a five-year-old child. Together, the group secured them housing and reached out to Way Maker. We were able to provide baby clothes, a bassinet, diapers, wipes, bottles—everything they needed to welcome their baby home. What a blessing to meet their immediate needs and be the hands and feet of God!
Family 2
Two weeks before Christmas, a local hospital referred a battered mother of two small children to us. In partnership with Due West Missions, we stepped in with clothing, groceries, rent assistance, car insurance, and a safe place for the family. Today, the children are enrolled in daycare at a Christian academy, the mother has transferred her job closer to home, and they are experiencing hope and stability for the first time in a long time.
“I appreciate God for putting y’all in my path and giving me the strength to turn more into our Father, especially when you wanna just not deal with the world.” – AM

Client Stories
L.H.’s Story
A mother of two welcomed a premature baby in 2023, weighing only three pounds. She needed safe transportation but couldn’t afford to install the tires she already had. Way Maker partnered with Salgado Tires to get her new tires mounted and her car ready—at a discount—so she could bring her baby home with peace of mind.
“Thank you Way Maker! I’m sooo grateful, truly!” – L.H.
K.G.’s Story
After leaving an unhealthy living situation, K.G. temporarily stayed with family when her car was broken into. With cold and rain in the forecast, she turned to Way Maker. We found a replacement window at a salvage yard, covered the cost, and coordinated installation so her car was safe again.
This is AMAZING—THANK YOU SOOO MUCH! … God bless you.” – K.G.

Way Maker Christmas
Through our Angel Tree program, we supported two families (five children total) with clothing, gifts, and Christmas dinner.
Special thanks to:
Due West Stepping into the Bible Sunday School class – adopted a family’s entire Christmas list
St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church and Living Hope Lutheran Church – hosted Angel Trees and gifted carloads of baby items, toys, and clothing
We are so blessed by their generosity!
Looking Ahead
As we step into 2024, Way Maker is continuing to expand partnerships with organizations like the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Wellstar, and local agencies to support at-risk mothers. We are also implementing a mentorship program to walk intentionally with mothers in our Way Maker+ program through guidance and counseling.
Thank you
A heartfelt thank you to our community partners and donors who made 2023 possible, including:
